When we started making the animated film, my long time wish was to also include moving shoots. Because buying or renting a slider would be too expensive and at the same time almost impossible, we decided to build it and programmed it ourselves. This is the third slider prototype that allows us to control the camera through 6 channels in all angles (track, pan, tilt, focus, zoom and elevate). My brother designed an Arduino program that connects to the Dragonframe software. Each channel has separate option to control the speed of the movement / motor. The slider will automatically move by itself when you press the capture image button. My dad by himself build and designed the slider structure.

This particular slider movement is 53 seconds long and that makes up to 1325 frames. The whole preparation and shooting in one go took me and my dad 17 hours. There were numerous tests made in advance to make sure the camera movement will flow nicely. Because we had no knowledge how to program the slider, it took us 2 months to plan out the movements of each camera rotation and zoom based on individual frames. We helped ourselves with a video reference and POV video games to learn how the body should move.
